Open letter to prospective employers,

Why not me?

With more than sixteen years experience providing advertising, marketing production and technology consulting for clients, I am especially well-suited to working in a variety of situations. I have coordinated everything from concepts to production for print, radio, outdoor, television and web, along with media sales and placement for Paul/Jay Associates‘ clients. This versatility has allowed me to develop working relationships with clients ranging from academic (Jefferson Community College), banking (Ameribank), realty (Harvey Goodman Realtor • Builder), industry-leading corporations (Troy Group), entertainment (Craig Karges), non-profit (Oglebay Institute), religious (Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston) and government (Wheeling National Heritage Area Corporation). During my time at Paul/Jay Associates I provided hardware and software technical support internally and for clients of Digital Solutions, an Apple Reseller, which I managed.

In 2007, I moved to Columbus, Ohio, so that my wife could pursue her law degree at the Ohio State University. At 889 Global Solutions I learned the finer points of importing products from China. I handled everything from marketing production, web development, sales calls, IT support, and importing of promotional items from factories in China. Over time I developed a relationship with Columbus Housing Partnership and donated my time to market their Homeport Division which develops and rehabilitates affordable homes throughout Central Ohio. I was hired in January of 2009 where I assumed the dual roles of Systems Administrator and Marketing Coordinator. In the fall of 2009, I initiated the brand conversion for the Homeport Programs at Columbus Housing Partnership and I currently handle day-to-day management of all marketing activities for the Homeport Programs.

Outside of work I extend my enthusiasm for bicycling to community involvement. Before I left the Upper Ohio Valley I was able to secure funding for the local rail-trail to host, develop, and maintain a website, for the Wheeling Heritage Trail system. The site provides exposure for the current trail system and the expansion plans. I was project manager for the site and the site is hosted at my former employer, Paul/Jay Associates. I also volunteered for trail cleanup and expansion plan meetings.

Shortly after moving to Columbus I founded Bike the C-Bus, a city-wide bicycle tour. My responsibilities include sponsorship development, route logistics and day-of event management. In 2010, Bike the C-Bus had almost 400 participants travel through the neighborhoods in and around downtown Columbus all the while raising thousands of dollars for local charities. Due to the limited budget we rely on social media and marketing partnerships to publicize the event.

If you are looking for an employee who will “take the bike by the handlebars” and steer projects in the correct direction look no further.
